Because babies come on their own schedule, we offer on-call birth photography, meaning your photographer is available around the clock starting at 38 weeks gestation until your baby arrives.

When labor begins, we ask that you notify us early — ideally when you’re around 5–6 cm dilated and 50% or more effaced, with consistent contractions. This allows us time to prepare and arrive promptly.

Coverage includes a continuous 5-hour window, beginning when your photographer arrives at your birth location — typically around 5–10 cm dilation and active labor. We aim to capture:

• The rhythm of labor
• Support from your birth team
• Details of your environment
• The baby’s arrival (as permitted by hospital policy)
• Golden hour bonding, feeding, and family introductions

🛑 Please note: In many California hospitals, photography or video during the actual pushing stage may be limited or restricted by hospital policy. We will always respect your birth team’s protocols and will focus on capturing moments before and after pushing to honor your full story with both beauty and discretion.

💡 In the rare case that labor progresses too quickly for us to arrive in time, your service will convert to a “First 24” newborn photography session, taken within 24 hours of birth while baby still has vernix and those early details. This service is dedicated to capturing intimate bonding moments, breastfeeding, skin-to-skin, and your baby’s earliest features. You’ll still receive a beautiful, meaningful gallery that tells the beginning of your story.
